1959 Gibson Melody Maker 3/4
Introduced in mid 1959, the Melody Maker was Gibson’s entry level solid body guitar, offering an alternative to the Les Paul Jr.
It came in full and 3/4 scale versions, both priced at a third less than the Junior.
This 3/4 Melody Maker is from the first year of production and should definitely not be judged by its diminutive size.
The wood is super resonant and the wider (and better!) single coil pickup was only available that year:
a little Gibson maybe but a Gibson nonetheless!
It’s the perfect travel or couch guitar: small, light and it plays itself.
A great way to own a Gibson from this magical year!
